Women Business Travelers on the Rise

Women are the fastest-growing segment among business travelers and account for nearly half of all business travel in the United States. According to Skift Travel IQ, “Women are high-tech, mobile, connected, and social. They like to book on the move and represent 58% of online sales.” Women control 60% of the wealth in the U.S. and influence 85% of all purchasing decisions.

As more women travel alone for business, companies from hotels to airlines are making their offerings more female-friendly. With some good judgment and preparation, female business travelers can significantly reduce their chances of unforeseen issues and heighten their travel experience.

Below are some tips to make business travel run more smoothly and safely.

Book a Reputable Hotel – Some hotel companies are offering female-friendly accommodations that include personal comfort and safety. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurant and Hyatt Hotels Corp. have already launched female-friendly programs that cater specifically toward women travelers.

Schedule the Right Flight – Many airlines offer amenities that cater to the female traveler.  Embraer SA is highlighting privacy and aesthetics as it pitches its corporate jets to more female executives. Boeing Co. is designing its planes to give female business travelers more seclusion and features lower overhead luggage bins for easy accessibility.

Pack Lightly – If you need to be dressed in business attire for a same-day meeting, wear it on the plane. Always assume your luggage may be lost and be prepared.
